/Cello
Alec Duggan is a Tacoma-based cellist and is in his second year participating with Lake Chelan Bach Fest. He currently works as a data analyst and actively plays with orchestras around the area, including Symphony Tacoma, Yakima Symphony, Northwest Sinfonietta, and Seattle Rock Orchestra. He also enjoys performing and recording with non-classical artists, most recently with the up-and-coming songwriter Amelia Day at venues such as the Triple Door, Neumos, and the Bumbershoot Music Festival.
He attended the University of Washington in Seattle for his undergraduate degree, where he studied with the late Toby Saks and majored in mathematics with a music minor. He then traveled to Idaho and West Virginia to continue studying cello performance at the masters and doctoral levels. Throughout his college education, he developed a strong focus in chamber music, earning a position with the resident piano trio at UW, and receiving string quartet fellowships for his graduate studies.
His cello and chamber music education allowed him to perform in masterclasses under renowned artists such as the Dover Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, Quartet Ebene, the Vienna Piano Trio, Andres Diaz, Karen Gomyo, Xavier Phillips, and William Preucil.
