Christine Sears

Cello

Washington native Christine Sears has established herself as a sought-after cellist in the Mid-South.

Dr. Sears is an avid orchestral musician and recently won a position with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in Alabama. She performs frequently with the Memphis Symphony and has played with many groups throughout Tennessee and Oregon. She has had the pleasure of collaborating with renowned artists such as Bela Fleck, Zuill Bailey, Dionne Warwick, Trio Con Brio Copenhagen, and Ricky Skaggs. 

Her most recent recording work features a deep dive into cello repertoire that is inspired by global folk traditions. In this album, she explores newer works across many geographical locations including East Asia, the Caucasus region, Central Europe, and the Americas.

Dr. Sears’ competition wins include the 2020 Concerto/Aria competition at the University of Oregon, and the 2013 Masterworks Youth Music Competition in Olympia, WA. She has been admitted to competitive festivals such as Center Stage Strings, the Chautauqua Institution, and Brevard Music Center, among others.

She serves as Adjunct Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Sears completed her DMA with Dr. Kimberly Patterson at the University of Memphis. She holds additional degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Oregon. Her previous teachers include Leo Singer, Steve Pologe, David Requiro, Alistair MacRae, and Donna Moore.

Cheryl Sears

Flute

Cheryl Sears, flutist, grew up in the Seattle area and currently lives in Olympia.  She has been a member of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra for many years, and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in flute performance.  Over the years, she has taught privately, performed in the Governor’s Mansion Chamber Music Series, and performed with several orchestras and operas throughout the Puget Sound region.  Her flute, violin, and cello trio has performed at the Governor’s Mansion on several occasions and regularly for recitals, parties, and weddings.  Cheryl is an elementary teacher in the North Thurston Public schools, where she teaches 3-5th graders.  During the summer she enjoys resting up from the school year, taking on house projects, and spending time with her husband and 2 daughters.
