Ed Phillips

Edgar Phillips has been performing as a freelance tubist in the Puget Sound region since his graduation from the University of Washington in the early 1980’s. He has performed with Symphonies throughout the Northwest, including the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Opera, Olympia, Yakima, Boise, Fairbanks, and Juneau Symphony Orchestras. He plays with diverse ensembles, including Brass Animals, Brass Band Tacoma, Bavarian Village Band, Smilin’ Scandinavians, and Brass Band Tacoma. He is currently principal tubist of Olympia and Lake Washington Symphonies, as well as Lake Chelan Bach Fest Orchestra. Mr. Phillips has a special affinity for brass quintet playing and is a long- standing member of the LWSO Brass Quintet, Seattle Brass Quintet, Pacific Brass Quintet, Cascadia Brass ensemble, and Olympia Chamber Brass. For his “day job” Mr. Phillips teaches special needs students at Gray Middle School in south Tacoma.
