Southern California native Matthew Anderson has now been in the Pacific Northwest for eleven years. Which is long enough to acclimate and so that it feels like home.

Prior to moving to Seattle in 2013, he performed in most of the regional orchestras from San Diego to Kern counties, as well playing in the pit for musicals in Long Beach, Riverside, La Mirada, Redondo Beach, and Fullerton. Dr. Anderson also spent five years performing in various capacities at the Disneyland Theme Park including the annual Candlelight Festival Orchestra.

Other performance opportunities included playing for producers Quincy Jones, Phil Ramone, and Greg Fields and accompanying artists such Natalie Cole, Wynonna Judd, Stevie Wonder, Lou Rawls, Take Six, Burt Bacharach, Barry Manilow and Rita Moreno. Other performance opportunities included film composers Charles Fox, Lalo Schifrin, Earnest Gold, Elmer Bernstein, and Jerry Goldsmith.

Dr. Anderson relocated to Seattle where he received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Washington where he studied with Seattle Symphony Principal horn Jeffrey Fair. His education prior to this included a Master of Music degree from Azusa Pacific University where he studied with James Thatcher, and a Graduate Certificate from U.S.A where he studied with Vincent De Rosa. Undergraduate studies were at California State University , Fullerton.

Since moving to Seattle Dr. Anderson has become a regular member of the Seattle Rock Orchestra and has performed with Elvis Costello and Stewart Copeland. He has also performed with the Federal Way Symphony, the Lake Washington Symphony, the Seattle Men’s Chorus, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, the Northwest Sinfonietta, and ShowTunes Theater Company.
