A Letter to our Musicians

Hello Everyone,
My 9 year old granddaughter said in an email to me: “Right now, things are tough, but we can work
through it as a family! When life is black, we are colorful.”
Let’s not forget to be “colorful” every day: reaching out to those who need help, helping make this
world a more hopeful place, and keeping our friends and families close to us.
In these hard times it is music that can give us comfort and peace of mind. We all miss playing and
singing music with our colleagues and friends and students…to me it’s like a huge part of my life has
been taken away from me.
On our last day of school my students wanted to hug me and instead gave me pats on my back. It was
very touching and very sad. They love orchestra. They tell me that it is the best part of their school day
and that it brings them tranquility and fun. They say it is a place that is encouraging and where they can
express themselves without someone putting them down. I’ve only been out of school a few days and
miss them very, very much. I’m sure that you are experiencing some of the same feelings.
I want to let you know that Bach Fest is still on for July. We plan to go ahead with the festival if the virus
curve has gone down and we are getting the news that it is safe for us to be together in large groups.
We are revisiting our situation again in late April and again in May and will make our decision by June.
Bach Fest may be a little different, but we will still need all of you if you feel that you can comfortably be
with us in Chelan.
Our executive board had a voice meeting this week (no getting together) and put together ideas. We
will keep you informed. So please still plan on coming. Get your housing form in and let us know if you
wish to play chamber music on the noon concerts. I am extending the deadline for applications to April
10 th so you have time to get your requests in.
Please know that I’m available for you. You can call, text or message me at 253.353-0294. You can
email here syrinxwing@aol.com. Let’s stay in touch.
The healing power of music must not be forgotten during this time. The comfort it gives is
immeasurable.
Sincerely,
Beth Jensen
